Do you love to hangout & relax at the beach? A Surfer or have you always wanted to try? Enjoy Beautiful Nature Reserve Beachs- hiking,surfing,BBQ and feel the real Brazil. 1min walk to beach of Macumba- 30min bus ride from Ipanema.
Our hostel is a spacious Portuguese style house only 100m from the beach and surrounded by Coconut Palm trees, tropical plants, with many birds, butterflies and monkeys passing by the trees in front of the house. Its the perfect spot to relax in a hammock after a day of Surfing and other adventures. We are centered in the middle of 7 different Surfing beaches, making it easy access by foot, bike and car. We are located opposite to "Macumba Beach" in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, on the outer skirts of the Rio City, 30min down the coast from Ipanema. Easy to access by bus, taxi, or we can arrange you a pick up.
The hostel was put together and is run by a young couple, a New Zealander and Brazilian. Both being well travelled surfers, they have put this interesting house together for you to fall in love with. 'Our house is your home while you stay with us in Rio and enjoy the feeling of living in Brazil, we live in this area for a reason that you should experiance'.
This area is ranked the best and most consistent surf beaches in the Rio City. The secluded beaches Prainha and Grumari have amazing jungle mountain backdrop with no development, and on a hot weekend day, are the favorite hangout beaches for surfers, famous actors, and Brazilian hot bodies. Grumari is even the spot where the beach scene from the movie City of God was filmed. These are the safest, cleanest and most relaxed beaches of the Rio City. Stay with us, the only hostel in the untouched area and be able to experiance an island style feeling close to the city.
The rooms are spacious, all with ceiling fans, screened windows, and your own personal bathroom with hot water showers. Your bed will be made for your arrival with our sheets provided. We offer double, twin, single, and shared dorm rooms.
A free, fresh Breakfast is provided daily of fruits, cakes, and breads with ham, cheese and jams. Also a selection of juices, teas and fresh Brazilian coffee. Plus, to top it all off, a surf video playing in the background to amp you up for the day.
We have no curfews and give every customer their own key to the gate, so you can come and go as you please.
Home cooked meals (R$10) are provided nightly and the best all you can eat Brazilian BBQ's (R$15) are made each weekend. We also have an all hours surf bar offering beers (R$2.50) and Caipirinhas (R$3.50) as well as sodas and bottled water (R$2.50).
SURFING TRANSPORT in the Kombi Van, to search for the perfect waves of the day. (If the wave out front isn't the best). This is offered for free when you do your surf lessons or board rental.

SURF LESSONS- Beginner and novice 2 hour lessons in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
All equipment is provided; soft boards, leashes, uv shirts and rash guards. Instructors are certified and well trained ladies and guys. We promise you will stand up and progress. Great location to learn with warm waters all year round!

5 nights minimum stay - Cheaper than the city hostels - with a FREE 1 day activity eg- 2hr board rental or the Prainha nature walk . Transport to city is offered daily.

4 nights stay- all includes a FREE transfer one way to the beach of Copacabana for the fire works display (the biggest beach party in the world).
A Brazilian BBQ with cheap beers will be held for midday on the 31st to get you going for the New Year. Bring your white clothing it's a tradition here.

conditions: The Rio Surf n Stay Guesthouse offers a relaxed healthy atmosphere for you to enjoy the best beaches of Rio. The natural enviroment at the house attracts most peolpe that are looking for a chill out area where they can experiance a direct contact with the simple and laid back Brazilian life style. Even though the atmospere is very tranquil, there is places for parties and having heaps of fun with the locals. As this is a small buisness and space is limited, please contact us at least one week before your expected arrival date if you decide to cancel your reservation. During high season and special events, a one month cancellation notice would be greatly appreciated. Our terms and conditions are stated in our website, and they are basic rules to keep a comfortable atmosphere in the house. For special packages, specially NEW YEARS and CARNAVAL a 50% deposit fee will be required in order to confirm your resevation.
