  • Caye Caulker Travel Guide & City Information

Caye Caulker is a small caye off the coast of Belize. It has numerous inexpensive restaraunts and accommodation. Being more laid back and less commercialised than some of the other cayes it is an ideal place to spend several days snorkelling, scuba diving or just relaxing in the sun.

This isn't much of a beach place though. The best place to laze around in the sun is at the Split, the narrow channel that was formed out of the middle of the caye when Hurricane Hattie struck in 1961. The water is a little more protected there. Swimming is not recommended elsewhere on the island, because of rather heavy motorboat traffic.

It was a LOT more beautiful before the hurricane in 01. You have to take a boat out to the reef to snorkel.
