The main reason to come to Motueka is for a visit to Abel Tasman National Park. With a combination of beach and bush, a sunny climate, curving beaches of golden sand, and forested hills that offer great hikes, this ia a great place to spend some time.
Motueka is located at the top of the South Island and is serviced by the Nelson Regional Airport (the 4th busiest in NZ) located only an easy forty minute drive away. Motueka is a 3 hour drive from the Picton-Wellington Interisland ferry and 5 hours from Christchurch. Daily bus services link Abel Tasman with Picton and the ferries, with the West Coast and the Glaciers and with Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs and Christchurch.
