The hotel Casa Dona Elvira is a tastefully renovated grand house dating back to the 16th century (ca. 1550) beckons guests to explore the first city of the Americas.

The hotel is owned and managed by a Belgian-American couple, Marc and his wife Elvira. Marc is a former Belgian diplomat who was posted for 14 years in the United States where he met his wife, an American citizen of Spanish-Philippine ancestry, who graduated from Columbia University. The hotel pays homage to artists, past and present. Doña Elvira de Mendoza is known as the first poet of the new world along with Leonor Ovando. Doña Elvira funded the construction of the neighboring church 'Regina Angelorum' where the remains of Father Billini rest. The Hotel is also named after the woman behind its recent renovation, the owner, whose family roots mirror Dona Elvira de Mendoza's own odyssey into the new world, having emigrated from Cordoba, Spain to Cuba and the Philippines several centuries ago.
