You may want to take a short drive to Chemainus up the Vancouver Island Coast.  About 55 minutes away on the trans-Canada hwy., this small village has quaint shops and restaurants -- it is best known for the 50 or so murals that decorate its buildings -- a walking tour of the murals will take you to some uncommon visual surprises.
