LONELY PLANET 2008'S REVIEW
This long-standing favourite is a place to stay with two faces. Party-people live it up in the main section of the hostel, while the vibe is more low-key in the guesthouse wing across the road. By day, all lounge in hammocks and chat around the pool in the manicured garden. The main draw here is the idyllic garden-set swimming pool, around which guests splash away the day, sunbathing and swapping travelling tales, while mellow tunes resonate. By night, guests flip-flop over from the pool to the bar/restaurant area for international cuisine, live music and salsa classes - or, on rainy days, movies on the big screen. Over the road, in the recently converted hundred-year-old guesthouse, the pace is a little slower, where folk make the most of the large double rooms and peaceful reading areas.
