The homes that line the gracious, spacious avenues of the upmarket suburb of Fresnaye, on Cape Town 's Atlantic seaboard, embody peace and comfort, and Sundown Manor is no exception. So secluded is it that guests live in their own private world, out of sight of the sea, but never quite out of hearing distance.

Located on the Atlantic Seaboard, between the Clifton & Camps Bay beaches, the V&A Waterfront and the city centre, we are a spacious 4 star guesthouse with 8 rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Guests to the Manor are all struck by a feeling of spaciousness and high ceilings, some of them pressed steel, reinforce this impression.

Beautiful Chinese beechwood floors in the public rooms add richness and eye appeal, and the unusual furniture in bedrooms and public rooms strike an exotic note.

The 8 double bedrooms are all en-suite: 3 bathrooms have double-ended baths for bathing à deux, and all have showers. The king-size beds can be used as singles or doubles. The headboards are also made from railway sleepers, and the bedside tables repeat the wood-and-glass motif of the public rooms. Anglepoise reading lamps and whiter-than-white percale cotton linen completes the look of freshness and comfort.

The guests' lounge offers comfortable sofas, rattan easy chairs and a gas-fired heater in the hearth, should the weather suddenly turn chilly. Featured here are the uniquely designed tables made from railway sleepers and glass that are a recurring theme throughout the guest house. French doors lead to the sunken pool and the patio which overlooks it - a popular spot to enjoy breakfast and sundowners.

Nearby Sea Point and central Cape Town offer a wide choice of day- and night-time pursuits, from pristine beaches and cablecar rides up Table Mountain to restaurants and night clubs that compare favourably with the best the world has to offer. And if drives and spectacular scenery are your thing, you are in the perfect location to explore the Peninsula 's high and beautiful places.

From the Manor it is a hop, skip and jump to favourite amenities such as the famous Clifton and Camps Bay beaches, South Peninsula wine routes, including Groot Constantia, Buitenverwachting and other historical estates, and world-class shopping centres such as Century City (Ratanga Junction) and the celebrated V&A Waterfront.

In spite of being so close to the hive of Cape Town's activity, we are still very secluded from all the busy noise and therefore offer the perfect environment for complete tranquility and relaxation.
