Tradición Austral is perhaps one of the best maintained traditional old homes of Puerto Varas in a quiet residential area little changed over the decades. Two blocks from the Railway Station and the remodeled Grand Hotel of 1932 (now Meliá Patagonia) TA is close to all bus terminals as well. There is private off street parking available free of charge for guests arriving by car.

The TA difference begins with quality firm mattresses and down comforters in spotless rooms. Rest well, safe and comfortable, far from traffic and bustle. We start breakfast with fresh brewed real coffee (instead of instant that is common in Chile) and a setting with free-range eggs, a selection of fresh seasonal fruits, homemade jams, local honey, and whole grain breads, as if breakfast were an important meal.

Your hosts have traveled extensively in Chile and South America and freely share their insights and local knowledge. A specialty of the house is guided fishing trips on local rivers. Non-fishing river excursions can be arranged as well. TA is the perfect base for outdoors excursions of all types; rafting, fishing, biking, trekking, kayaking, bird watching, horseback riding. TA hosts can help arranging unique experiences for those who prefer getting off the well beaten paths.
