Edirisa is a society for promoting Africa, creativity, cultures and practical skills. At the Home of Edirisa we have a hostel, museum, craft gallery, lounge area in our veranda, coffee room, restaurant and much more.

Our hostel is arranged around the museum, the rooms have names and paintings from a traditional homestead. The dormitory with ten beds is called Entarure - based on the raised bed for the married couple under which goats are kept. The twin room is called Ekishengye - it got its name from the communal pot for drinking beer. The single room is called Esanga - it is tiny enough to resemble the traditional umbrella. The comfortable self-contained double is called Orunyegye - the witchdoctor's rattle and includes free breakfast and internet*.

All rooms have mosquito nets and hot showers available. Accommodation includes a free museum tour.

* Surfing is at USh 30/minute, on our public computer or on your laptop. Guests of the self-contained room have free access (using their laptop in the room or utilising the public computer at the reception).

The craft gallery is linked to the museum and arranged in a traditional papyrus style. It offers local fair trade crafts, Congolese masks and statues, Kenyan and Tanzanian bags, jewellery and more. You can choose from a vast selection of postcards and get stamps for all continents.

We also have a quality library of books, music and films. On Sunday evenings we organise regular talkshows and film projections.

We are located in the centre of Kabale, on Nyerere Avenue opposite Hot Loaf Bakery and Little Ritz Restaurant. We are opened every day from 9 AM to 11 PM.
