This is the area reached by turning left off the ferry at Craignure, the most southerly part of the island. The small heritage centre is located in the village nearest to being a town [more than one shop, PO, restaurant and pub] of Bunessan, situated with the sea to its north. This is a favourite place for herons but the best beaches are those on the south coast of the Ross. Many people think these actualy beat the better known one at Calgary in the north of the island.
The vast majority of cars seem to head for Fionnphort at the south-west tip, where the ferry [cars only with a permit] makes the five minute crossing to Iona.
