Handa, an island off the coast of Sutherland, is formed of Torridonian sandstone and is covered in practically all types of seabirds in the nesting season. It is administered by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. There are regular boat trips from Tarbet, near Scourie, just off the coastal route from Ullapool to Durness, Sutherland

The ferocity of the skuas at times makes it advisable to have your head covered but the wildlife and the scenery make it a delectable trip.
