  • Bundoran Travel Guide & City Information

Bundoran on the Atlantic coast is a well-known seaside and golfing resort. Situated on Donegal Bay it has pretty good bathing sands. Other activities available are tennis and fishing.

The force of the Atlantic Ocean has worn the rocks on the beaches into many peculiar shapes; a good example is the natural arch called the Fairy Bridge, 24 feet in span. The bridge is an intriguing example of nature's unpremeditated art.

There are splendid views north-west across the bay towards the distant cliffs of Slieve League .

On the road to Ballyshannon near the ruins of Finner Church is an interesting group of monuments including a dolmen, a stone circle, and a cairn. To the south east of the resort extends Lough Melvin with hills rising above its southern shores. Two miles west of the town is Tullan Strand on the way to which the Fairy Bridge is passed.

Bundoran is a wonderful place and offers many facilities it at times has the second biggest waves in the world and has been made famous by surfers, Donegal Adventure Centre offers you lessons to teach people how to ride these wonderful waves, it has golden beaches and silvery sea's. Bundoran faces west so it gets a beutiful sunset overlooking the sea in the evening. It offers wonderful accomodation in all forms, Hotels, B&B's, or self catering. It is home to Waterworld which Kids love. it offers faboulous restaurants, and has a very lively nightlife. The only thing that may let Bundoran down is some not all Northern Ireland people who come to visit the area.  I would reccommend Bundoran to anyone as it is a wonderful place. It is obvious to me that anyone who rights a bad comment about Bundoran did not visit aby sites, ands are just plain boring. Also I would like to add these people do not have any right to write a bad comment about Bundoran which to me and to many other people is a wonderful place, because if it was bad it would have no tourist industry, If they do not go visit the historical sites, the scenic sites use the wonderful facilities availble. Because to me it is obvious that they didn't.
