Hverargedi is a relatively young town that attracts loads of visitors every year beacuse of its geothermal enrgy sources. The ehart of the town consist of several steaming hot springs and mud pools. The energy is used to heat up a plentitude of greenhouses where an abundance of flowers and vegetables are grown and where gardeners and farmers from all over the country come to learn of improve their gardening skills. Besides that, the thermal energy is used for therapy. The town boasts the largest thermal swimming pool and health sanatorium of Iceland.
