  • Flensburg Travel Guide & City Information

Flensburg on the Baltic Sea is the northernmost town on the German mainland, right at the Danish border, and makes a nice stop on your way to or from Scandinavia. Flensburg is a pleasant harbourtown of more than 700 years and about 85.000 inhabitants. The heart of the city or Altstadt (=old city) is especially attractive. The pedestrian zone (covering "Holm" and "Norderstraße") is about 1000m long and offers lots of shopping facilities and cafés, restaurants and beautiful facades. Have a closer look at the beautifully renovated yards to the left and right of the pedestrian zone (where you can find small shops and cafés as well).

Flensburg's surrondings are lush and green, with quiet beaches and lots of possibilities for water sports (sailing is especially popular).
