Welcome to the Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge. We invite you to come and relax in our enchanted 5 acre, subtropical haven. Laze by the pool, swing in the hammocks and soak up the friendly atmosphere for which we are universally famous.

The Arts Factory Lodge, a short 5 minute walk from Byron Bay's main beach and township. Originally an old piggery and the birthplace of 'fame' and 'spirit' of Byron, in the early 70s, many local and international artists, hippies and alternative lifestylers turned it into a creative 'Arts Factory'. Just as the dormitories and shared accommodation vary in style, so too do our doubles and twins.

They range from Island Bungalows or Gunyas, set on their own Island, to the Cozy Cubes which are indoor rooms with funky Mambo Art, a bar fridge. The Loveshack is a double room with its own bathroom facilities

The Arts Factory is a comfortable, friendly retreat offering groovy accommodation.

Standard Dorms (Book 6 bed Mixed Dorm)

Dorms are six share and are located around the pool in the main building. There is a locker for each person and it is only a short walk to the bathrooms and the kitchen. Pillows and linnen are provided.

The Wagon (Book 10 bed mixed dorm)
For a funky outdoor experience in canvas covered Wagon. The Wagon is for people who want a different and exciting sleeping environment, if who want to meet a Drop Bear and dont mind the occassional rare and endangered water possum.

The Surf Shack ( Book 12 Bed Mixed Dorm)
This surfer inspired large dorm is decorated in a surf style theme. Set away from the main part of the hostel anongst our nature reserve, it is a short walk to the bathrooms and kitchen. Celebrate the surfer within.

Cozy Cubes ( Book Double Bed private shared bathroom)
Located on the lower level and adjacent to the pool are the Cozy Cubes. Perfect for couples they have a bar fridge, table and chairs and a fan for your comfort. Duvets and pillows are provided free of charge.

Island Retreats (Book Twin Private shared bathroom)
Island Retreats are our Jungle style canvas covered hut with 2 single beds, they are surrounded by a small tea tree lake. If you want to get close to nature, love the great outdoors and don't mind the occassional harmless spider then this is for you. The facilities are a short stroll away from this peaceful island. Gunyas are based on indigenous type of dwelling made from bark, we have used some of these methodologies to create our own Gunyas.
