We stayed at the Orchid Hotel in July and loved it! The staff was warm, helpful and funny. We caught an earlier flight in Hue, which put us at the hotel well before check in. Our room was not ready, but they allowed us to check into another room so we could rest and get cleaned up. Later we moved to the Romantic Room which was decorated quite nicely and very clean. The staff asked us if it was a special occasion. We told them of our anniversary and later on received flowers and a cake. They also helped us with tours and a driver to Hoi An. The location is very central, and there is free internet access in the lobby. We would gladly stay and this hotel and highly recomend it.

This is a superb hotel to stay in Hue. My emails were always replied to quickly and a change in dates was no problem. On our arrival the hotel was full but we were given a free upgrade to the family room. The staff spoke good English and always went that extra mile - from booking trips to suggesting places to eat. You were always greeted with a big smile. The rooms offer exceptional value for money from the complimentary bottles of water and fruit each day to the very big comfortable beds.
The breakfasts were good they even got up early to provide us with a snack before heading out for a tour to the DMZ.
This hotel deserves its No 1 rating.

My wife and I stayed at the Orchid for six weeks in June and July 2008 (we were working in Hue), so we got to know it very well, and I can say that it is truly an excellent hotel. It felt like home right away and was without doubt the best place we stayed at in Vietnam.
The rooms themselves are modern, clean, spacious and above all comfortable. Although, as other reviewers have noted, there is one in which the window faces a brick wall, but all the other rooms have views across the city, some even with balconies, which are great for watching the street life below. Breakfast is outstanding. It is fresh and contains a wide variety of choices from Western options to Vietnamese (order the pho, it's excellent).
But what makes the Orchid a truly remarkable place is the staff. I'm not sure if it's the result of rigorous training or just a fortunate mix of personalities, but the staff make it one of the friendliest places to stay in Vietnam, if not the world. They are accommodating, kind, always smiling, and above all extremely hospitable. I can't give the Orchid a high enough rating and this is entirely due to the outstanding people who run the hotel. Bravo! We hope to return to Hue soon, and when we do, we'll be staying at the Orchid."Nice friendly hotel in a nice friendly town."

We had an excellent stay at the Orchid Hotel in May 2008. The room was well kitted out, clean and stylish. The staff were supremely helpful without being too formal. The location is very handy for the local restaurants. We stayed at some other hotels with more stars to their name, but this was one of the happiest stays we had.

We stayed 3 weeks in Vietnam & stayed in 7 hotels & the Orchid was the best by miles. It really is fantastic, ALL the staff without exception were extremely friendly with warm & welcoming smiles when ever they saw you from the doorman to the cleaners.
We were welcomed with a drink plus fruit & snacks, flowers on the bed & fresh fruit each day. There was fast in room PC & DVD with an incredible choice of films to watch.
There are lovely silk Kimonos to wear & a daily bottle of water each.
My husband put his washing in to the laundry & it was back clean & pressed the same afternoon.
The staff are also helpful in advising on local prices for things so you don't get over charged & good resturants.
I had to book direct as some web sites said it was full ( & i got a triple room for the three of us) i would advise doing so just in case as the extra effort & worth it . I would deffinatly stay here again if i returned as all the other hotels we visited after felt like a disappointment. This one is really GREAT."Superb staff!"

Spent 3 nights at the hotel. Arrived very early in the morning - offered a drink and a snack. The room we had booked wasn't ready but the manager kindly gave us the use of a room so we could catch up on some sleep. When we went back down to reception we were given an upgrade from a romantic room to the honeymoon suite. Gorgeous room - huge, round bed, bathroom with jacuzzi and water feature and a kitsch pink velour heart shaped sofa and table! After sight seeing, we returned to the room to be greeted by a birthday cake and flowers which was a lovely touch. Staff were superb at organising trips - reasonable prices, recommending restaurants, offering general information and went out of their way to be helpful. Would definitely recommend a stay here."fantastic service, better than anywhere in Europe!

Myself and my sister stayed here for 3 days. The staff went out of their way to be as helpful as possible, which compared to some places we stayed made a big difference. The breakfast was a good buffet, not amazing but perfectly adequate. There were loads of extra touches, i.e. a free drink whenever you sat at the computer, free dvds, constant fruit etc... I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

It is everything most travellers had described already, and more.
Staff were friendly, with good command of English. Buffett breakfast was included and had good varieties. We even had fresh flowers and fruits in our rooms.
We arrived just before the Hue Lanterns Festival, when most of the tour agencies told us that there were no boats available for the Perfume River Cruise. The hotel manged to book us into one for a reasonable price.
Located minutes from the river, it is within easy walks to most attractions. A few doors up the street, there is a fantastic vegetarian restaurant which is cheap as well.
Would definitely stayed here again.

They say it is a 3-star hotel with 5-star service. That is true.
The rooms are nice and clean. The staff is fantastic, very kindly and they help you very good. The breakfast is royal with a lot of fresh fruits.

I found this hotel through tripadvisor, and it's true what's being claimed: great hotel, with bells on top.
Just one example: is your requested right room not availbale, no problem, they upgrade you to a higher class one. Really excellent rooms (we had one with a computer in the room)
I would assume this one will rank high in all upcoming guide books for Hue. Allthough it appears to be very popular already, so it probably doesn't really need the extra add.."Amazing stay"

Like the ritz in hanoi- very nicely appointed hotel that is made great by its staff. Chi who works the front desk during the day is one of the best hotel staff i have ever encountered. She goes out of her way to do anything for your tours or onward travels. I believe she knows all the guests names on a daily basis- if not it just seems like it which is good enough.
Best hotel breakfasts i ate in Vietnam or Thailand.
I will be disapointed when I return to hue if I can not stay at the orchid. It helped make the experience of a great city even better.

Enjoyed our stay at the Orchid Hotel , Our room had a dvd player and they offer up to date DVDs in the lobby for free. The staff were excellent, the breakfast buffet was awesome and the room fantastic! I would definitely recommend staying here...!

Very quiet, big room with computer and internet in the room. Nice view. Even if we change our date at the last minute they made all they can to accomodate us. Good service of the vice-director. We booked one trip day to the imperial thumb with boat on Perfume Rive through her and our lovely guide was very interesting. I recommand this hotel.

Upon entering the cool foyer of this hotel we were immediately treated like VIPs. We were given cold drinks and directed to the air conditioning to cool off..The Receptionist Mrs Kim Chi was the most helpful, friendly and efficient hotel employee we meet in Vietnam. No exaggeration, she was simply fantatstic..She spoke better English than most, understood Westerners' needs and made us feel so welcome all without fuss or effort..She was truly wonderful..We had booked the Honeymoon suite on the top floor and we were amazed at the room. There was a big TV, DVD, good air cond, jacuzzi bath for two, bath robes, safe, giant round bed, free fruit and what a view of Hue..When Kim Chi discovered we were on our Honeymoon she organised a bunch of flowers, quickly had the chef bake us a 'Happy Honey Moon Times' cake at 9pm and a card which they delivered to our room with their warmest wishes..Then on day 2 my wife slipped getting out of the bath and was bed-ridden for the whole day. Again Kim Chi was so helpful, she organised the breakfast staff to send up a fruit platter and promised to keep an eye on my wife while I toured the city..
The doorman was also helpful. He negotiated with cyclo drivers and ensured I knew the cost and time of my journey. He also insisted I take a business card to find my way back.
The breakfasts were the best we experienced, but clearly some items such as diary and 100% fruit juice are very expensive in Vietnam and were a little rationed..
The room facilities were outstanding and we couldnt fault anything. We did have trouble finding the spa on/off switch, a sign would have helped..My wife loved the room (except for slipping over), and being bed-ridden enjoyed the hotels DVD collection..
The staff at this hotel truly tried very hard to make us feel special during our stay.. Sure we were on our Honeymoon, but many reviewers have commented on Mrs Kim Chi's wonderful service.. This Hotel is extremely well managed; evidenced by the consistent high level of service provided by all staff from the reception through to the cleaners.. Even when the Hotel arranged a car & driver for a private tour of the Tombs, the local tourist company driver did not even linger for a tip after opening our doors.. Such a delight to pay for a service and not to be bothered again for further money..Every interaction with this hotel was of a standard well above most of the hotels we have stayed in, not just Vietnam but also in Australia..This Hotel really understand western tourists..We would return to Vietnam, JUST to stay in this hotel and enjoy their lovely service.
