A traditional chinese garden buliding with more than 400 years old. Life in old Suzhou begins with life in the Garden.
Suzhou Ming Han Tang International Youth Hostel is located on the crossing of ShanTang Street and Xin Min Bridge of Guang Ji Road, an ancient historical area that was rebuilt in 815 AD. The hostel itself was the former residence of Mr. Wu Yi Peng (1460-1542 AD), the Prime Minister of the Ceremony Department of the Ming Dynasty. Mr. Wu's residence was built in 1520 AD, and is now the grounds of the hostel itself, and provides a diverse exposure to the historical culture.
The hostel is ideally located along a world cultural heritage site. We are several steps away from the ancient ShanTang Street, which was built by Mr. Bai Ju Yi (772-846 AD). As the Mayor of Suzhou, he built the street in 814 AD, and in 830 AD, he also rebuilt the West Lake of Hangzhou when he was the Mayor of Hangzhou. He is also famous as a poet in Tang Dynasty.
We are also close to other heritage sites, such as The Lingering Garden (0.5km), The Graden of Herbs(1.2km), the Mountain Villa of Secluded Beauty (1.5km), The West Garden (0.8km) and the well-known Han Shan Temple located outside ancient Suzhou (2km). We are also near Stone Road, the business center of Suzhou (1km). While our hostel is centrally located, residents can also walk along Shantang Street to experience the local village life along the canals, which have been decorated with white walls and green tiles along the small cobble-stone bridges.
Residents can try all kinds of different local snacks nearby, visit small shops selling antiques and hand-made wares, and relax in the pubs and dance clubs in the area. Bus stations, supermarkets, and local vegetable shops are all within a few minutes of walking.
We offer numerous amenities. We have a gold-fish pond, a reading area plush with a small garden under a glass roof as well as an outdoor lounge area. We have high-speed DSL Wi-Fi Internet browsing throughout the hostel. For example, if you have a laptop notebook without a wireless internet card, you can borrow one from the reception for free. Also, all rooms are equipped with a quiet and effective air-conditioning unit that the resident can control.
We also provide a free-for-use Epson projector for photographer-lovers. For residents who wish to cook, we have a large self-help kitchen. We provide a self-serve laundry and drying machine, because we hope you will not hang your clothes as flags. We also help in booking tickets and providing traveling information services. Residents can rent bikes to easily see the town on wheels.
Our security is quite sound. All room doors are electronically opened with a slide-in card key. All rooms have individual lockers and we provide the lock and key for free. And, we lock the hostel at night at 12 am.
We also can manage budget group travel plans, such as booking a bus, scheduling a tour, or other group-rate accommodations. We also host free barbeques, parties, and special events on holidays. Perhaps you may find your future Mr. or Ms. Right. In fact, it really happened here.
