Independent Travelguides described the Aussie Woolshed as 'The Best Hostel in Hervey Bay for it's exceptional quality accommodation' (BUG Backpackers Guide) and 'one of Australia's 50 most memorable Hostels - an exquisite range of nicely decorated rooms' (Footprints Travel Guide)
We have also been recommended by Let's Go, Rough Guides and are one of the few Hervey Bay Hostels that have been recommended by the new edition of Lonely Planet 2006.
There is a great range of Fraser Island tours departing from the Woolshed every day and can be booked through the hostel.
Unlike a lot of inner city hostels that lack a garden and pleasant surroundings, our rooms are spread out over 3 different buildings, situated within a large garden, surrounded by ponds, tropical vegetation, palm trees and gum trees. This natural setting attracts a lot of wildlife, there is daily parrot feeding, possums like to drop in for a visit and Hervey Bay's famous fruit bats can be spotted every evening, as they fly in their thousands over the Woolshed on their way to Fraser Island.
If you like to meet the other guests, find new friends, have a drink and a chat, why not drop in at our common room. It resembles an Aussie Woolshed, is entirely built out of wood and oozes character and atmosphere.
There is a well equipped kitchen with gas cookers, microwave, fridge, freezer and lots of cooking gear.
There are no hidden extras like linen fees, day charge fees or crockery deposits.

Free courtesy pick ups and drop offs from the bus terminal (during business hours, scheduled drop offs)
