Maleku Hostel FREE Shutle TO the Airport, $12 USD( rate starts Nov 15th 2008) Dorm Rooms , It is the best place to begin and finish your trip. Located just 3 minutes away from the International Airport of San José which is actually located in Alajuela.
With public transportation service available just a couple of blocks away from the hostel, there is no reason for you to go all the way to San José. All buses leaving San José to the beaches, volcanoes and mountains, or even to Nicaragua and Central America, stop in Alajuela, and the other way around.
Alajuela is home of many tourist sites, including the Butterfly Farm, Poas Volcano, the Serpentarium and the AviaryÂ…to name just a few. Also Restaurants, parks, churches and a large supermarket are located only one block away
Our Hostel has bran new beds with orthopedic mattresses, neat pillows, sheets and towels.
It has 2 private rooms with 1 double bed and 1 single bed. Also, 3 Dorm rooms that can be either private or shared with 6 single beds. The house has 2 shared bathrooms with hot showers, community kitchen, TV room, reading room, and benches outside.

NEVER believe taxi drivers! They make fake phone calls (have people on the phone pretending they work for us! IT IS A BIG LIE) they will always try to take you somewhere else and say that we are full or close. Also if you are in San Jose and the taxi drivers tell you that the routes are close or there is a manifestation! it is a lie too!
