The Medina:
Some travellers have never been to an 'old town' type of area such as the medina. For some of you , therefore, you could be in for a bit of a cultural shock as it is indeed very different than what we are used to. But we have found that after a day or so, literally 95% of hostellers are running around the souks, the market places and the squares as if they were right at home.

Things to realize about the Medina:
1.No matter which riad you book, the medina always presents the same external aspect; there are not the 'chic ' and the less 'chic' areas. Most riads are initially difficult to find, that's why we arrange to pick you up at the aiport and give you very clear maps and indications to get you started. It is preferable to book a riad that is not too far from the Place Djeema El Fna square, roughy 15 minutes max on foot.
2. In spite of its external aspect, the medina is VERY SAFE. You basically have ordinary men, women and children who live, work and go about their business. Even though you may create a bit of a sensation, because you are different, they are used to foreigners and apart from the odd kids or young teenagers who might pester you for a dirham or a sweet or perhaps ask you to be your guide, you will often go unnoticed, even you may think everyone is observing you.

Things about Ryad Puchka:
1.The riad is a haven of peace when you come in from the hustle and bustle of the medina. We've gone to great pains to ensure that everything is in place so as to enable you to have the most pleasant stay possible: you have free orange juice, coffee, mint tea and mineral water, you have acces to the whole riad, including a sundeck, a barbecue, a gym, an American pool table, several lounges, a jacuzzi and a swimming pool. Riad Puchka is the only guest house to have both a real swimming pool (2 meters deep) and the jacuzzi. Watch out for so-called swimming pools, most often the are more wading pools than anything else.
3. Nobody heats their jacuzzi or pool in the medina, so do not expect this, as the cost is prohibitive.
Their are villas to let in the suburbs with heated pools: you'll pay 200 to 300 euros per night. In any case, you can swim fairly comfortably from April to October, where the temperature of the water varies between 20 and 32 degrees.

First floor:
Leaving the swarming throng outside you enter into another world and suddenly experience an unbeleivable serenity. Walking through the traditional main entrance hall you glance at the amazing kitchen and discover the magnificent pillar-lined patio of over 100 square meters. You walk on "bejmat" (traditional Moroccan floor tiling), wonder at the hand sculpted freizes, zellige covered walls and incredible hand painted ceilings inspired by Moroccan palaces. Plants and flowers adorn the swimming pool (7m x 3m x 2 m deep) and jacuzzi, the fountain gurgles, you make a stop at the wishing well, stroll by the magnificent European style dining room and are soon enjoying a drink* of your choice comfortably installed on the Moroccan sofa in front of the bar. *Alcohol is heavily taxed in Morocco, therefore prices are similar to those in Europe.
