Hang Dao Streets begins with watch and clock shops and wholesale shops offering a variety of other goods. It was at one time a ward of Thang Long citadel, where the people of
Hang Dao - 1926 Dan Loan village (now part of Hai Duong province)earned their living by dyeing and selling red silk.The ward was known as Hang Dao, and in the mid 19th century a streets was established with the same name. There are now many shops selling ready-to-wear clothes in a huge of styles in Hang Dao streets as well as in Hang Ngang streets, which runs off it. At 48 Hang Ngang streets is the house where former President Ho Chi Minh drafted the Declaration of Independence which eventually led to the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam.
