Bingerville is some 15 km East of Abidjan. It's a charming town on a plateau overlooking the lagoon. Until the 1930s it was the capital of Cote d'Ivoire.
The major attractions in town include the old botanical gardens, the governor's palace and the Atelier d'Art.
From Bingerville a 25 km dirtroad takes you to Grand bassam where the French first set up their capital.
